Senate Bill 949 - Legislation making major revisions to the Bitumnous Coal Mine Act by incorporating recommendations made by the Governor's Commission on Abandoned Mine Voids & Mine Safety, the joint DEP/MSHA investigation team, and the Quecreek Grand Jury. Additionally, the Pennsylvania Coal Association, the United Mine Workers of America, and the Department of Environmental Protection provided detailed input on language. Senate Bill 63 - Legislation, "Kirsten's Law", requiring caseworkers at county Children and Youth agencies to include photo identification of each child from a family that maintains a case record. Additionally, the legislation will mandate that the photo is included upon the transfer of the record to another jurisdiction. Act 126 of 2006

Senate Bill 1583 (Amended into HB 2910) - Legislation authorizing and directing the Pennsylvania Department of General Services to grant and convey to the Uniontown Area School District certain land and building in the City of Uniontown, Fayette County. Act 192 of 2002
Senate Bill 1345 (Amended into SB 893) - Legislation amending the Pennsylvania Securities Act of 1972 to increase penalties for fraud involving securities that workers use for retirement savings. Current maximum penalties under the state Securities Code are seven years in prison and $10,000. Penalties would increase to ten years in prison and $20,000. If seniors are defrauded, the penalty would double to $100,000. Act 108 of 2002

SESSION OF 1999-2000
Senate Bill 612 - Legislation allowing an individual to apply for the use of a hunting blind in a controlled hunting area without first purchasing a Migratory Game Bird Hunting License. Under current law, individuals applying for the use of a hunting blind at Middlecreek or Pymatuning must first purchase the migratory bird stamp in order to apply. The individual may not be selected for use of the blind and, consequently, never use the migratory bird stamp he was forced to purchase in order to apply for the blind in the first place. My bill removes that language from the current law to require the purchase of the stamp prior to the date of reservation for the blind. Act 111 of 2000
Senate Bill 1178 - Legislation authorizing the Department of General Services, to grant and convey to Somerset County Conservancy Charitable Trust, certain tract of land situated in Somerset Township (266 acres), Somerset County. This legislation also authorizes the Pennsylvania Historical & Museum Commission to sell and convey to the County of Fayette a certain tract of land and right-of-way situated in Wharton Township (Great Meadows Amphitheatre), Fayette County. Senate Bill 618 - Amends the "The Controlled Substance, Drug, Device and Cosmetic Act" by adding the drug Ketamine Hydrochloride to the list of prohibited narcotics contained in the Act. The drug is known by the street name of Special K. It is an animal tranquilizer and has become popular for recreational use among teenagers. Act 78 of 2000
Senate Bill 1130 - Designating a bridge in Fayette County as the Point Marion Veterans' Memorial Bridge. The bridge carries U.S. Route 119 over the Cheat River Between Point Marion Borough and Springhill Township. Act 61 of 2000

Senate Bill 1168 - Authorizes the conveyance of a tract of land in Henry Clay Township, Fayette County, to the Turkeyfoot Fish and Game Association, Inc., from the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. This land is for the Allegheny bike/hike trail. Act 64 of 1998

Senate Bill 537 - Requires telephone companies providing service to jails or correctional institutions to use identifying messages stating that the call is originating from a prison. This legislation is to reduce the large number of telephone scams taking place in prisons across the Commonwealth. Act 156 of 1996
Senate Bill 399 - Changes the definition of "safety zone" which would create a safety zone for bow hunters in urban and suburban areas of 50 yards. Act 13 of 1996
